Mutual Information Quotient (MIQ) is a useful new method to find out disease informations in SNPs. Support Vector Machine (SVM) and related kernel methods are popular tools for data mining tasks such as classifications and regression. In this thesis, we used MIQ method and SVM to find out connection of asthma to SNPs.

Mutual Information Quotient (MIQ)는 주어진 정보를 판단하는 새로운 방법이며 Support Vector Machine (SVM)은 분류 (classification) 와 회귀 (regression) 에 응용할 수 있는 지도학습 (supervised learning) 의 일종이다. 이 논문에서는 MIQ 방법을 이용하 여 3, 4, 5개 조합의 SNP들의 MIQ 값을 구하고 그중 가장 높은 20개의 조합을 선택한다. 그리고 선택된 SNP들의 조합에서 천식과 관련된 SNP들의 조합의 가치를 높이기 위하여 SVM을 이용하여 천식과 관련된 SNP 조합의 정확도를 계산하여 비교한다.
