more초록/요약
The purpose of this study was to develop and validate a classroom climate scale perceived by elementary school students, to classify latent profiles of elementary school classroom climate using the developed scale, and to examine how profile membership was associated with students’ intrapersonal resources, school-related relational resources, family-context resources, and self-determination motivation. In Study 1, preliminary items were constructed based on a review of the literature and an analysis of existing scales, followed by an examination of content validity and a pilot study. Items for the main study were then selected through item analysis and exploratory factor analysis of the pilot data. Using the main study data, confirmatory factor analysis, reliability analysis, and validity testing were conducted. In Study 2, the scale developed in Study 1 was used to identify latent profiles of classroom climate as perceived by elementary school students, and predictors of profile membership and differences in self-determination motivation across profiles were examined. The results were as follows. First, the Elementary School Classroom Climate Scale consisted of 15 items across three factors: intimacy, rule compliance, and participation. Intimacy reflected emotional bonds and consideration among classroommembers; rule compliance reflected the acceptance and practice of classroom rules and order; and participation reflected students’ voluntary involvement in classroomactivities and decision-making processes. Confirmatory factor analysis supported the adequacy of the three-factor structure, and the bifactor model also identified a general factor underlying the three subfactors. These findings suggest that the total score of the scale may be used as an indicator of the overall level of classroomclimate perceived by elementary school students, while the subfactor scores may be used to provide supplementary information regarding specific characteristics of classroom climate. Second, latent profile analysis identified three types of classroom climate perceived by elementary school students: the vulnerable belonging profile, the stable belonging profile, and the collaborative community profile. The vulnerable belonging profile was characterized by generally low levels of intimacy, rule compliance, and participation, whereas the stable belonging profile showed moderate levels across all three factors. The collaborative community profile showed high levels across all three subfactors and was interpreted as a positive classroom climate characterized by well-established relational bonds, rules and order, and participation in classroomactivities. These findings indicate that elementary school students do not experience classroom climate in the same way and may perceive different classroomenvironments depending on their experiences of relationships, rules and order, and participation within the classroom. Third, the analysis of predictors of latent profile membership showed that the collaborative community profile was significantly distinguished from the vulnerable belonging profile by ego-resilience, peer support, trust in teachers, and parenting attitudes. The stable belonging profile was significantly distinguished from the vulnerable belonging profile by peer support and trust in teachers. These findings suggest that elementary school students’ classroom climate profile membership may vary according to intrapersonal resources, relational resources within the school, and family-context resources. Fourth, the analysis of differences in self-determination motivation across classroom climate profiles revealed significant differences in autonomous motivation, whereas no significant differences were found in controlled motivation. In particular, students in the collaborative community profile demonstrated the highest level of autonomous motivation. This finding indicates that a positive classroom climate is closely associated with students’ motivation to internalize the value of learning and to participate voluntarily. This study is significant in that it developed a scale for measuring elementary school students’ perceptions of classroom climate through the specific subfactors of intimacy, rule compliance, and participation, and identified latent profiles of classroom climate. The scale may serve as a foundational tool in school counseling and classroom settings for systematically assessing classroom climate, identifying classroom strengths and areas requiring support, and establishing practical directions for intervention.
