초록/요약
This thesis explores the factors contributing to the performance of agricultural cooperatives (ACs) in Laos, with focus on internal and external elements that impact profitability. Agricultural cooperatives play a role in supporting rural smallholder farmers and contributing to the economic development of Laos, yet many face challenges in achieving sustainability and profitability. The research employs both quantitative and qualitative methodologies, collecting data from 30 agricultural cooperatives across Laos. The study examines the effects of various internal factors such as knowledge training, management competency, member participation, and transparency, as well as external factors including access to finance, market linkages, and government infrastructure. The findings reveal that knowledge training and access to funding are the most significant factors effect to agricultural cooperative’s performance in Laos. In addition to identifying contributing factors, the study highlights several policy needs. These include the need for capacity-building initiatives, improved access to affordable credit, the creation of cooperative networks or federations, and stronger government support through tax incentives and technical assistance. The results of this research provide valuable insights for policymakers, development organizations, and cooperative leaders in Laos. By addressing the identified challenges and implementing targeted interventions, agricultural cooperatives can enhance their performance and contribute to the broader goals of rural development and poverty alleviation.
