Developing Volunteerism in Mongolia: Policy Recommendations and Strategic Analysis

초록/요약

In a world struggling with diverse social issues, volunteerism stands out as a pivotal solution. This research focuses on volunteerism in Mongolia, a critical yet underexplored area facing unique challenges and holding untapped potential. The primary aim is to offer well-grounded recommendations to the Mongolian government to enhance volunteerism, thereby contributing significantly to societal development and aiding in the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. The study employs a dual-methodology approach. It begins with a comprehensive literature review to identify international best practices in volunteerism. This is complemented by an in-depth analysis of local case studies, reflecting the Mongolian context. Active engagement with stakeholders further enriches the research, ensuring a multi-dimensional perspective. Key findings indicate a need for strategies that not only promote volunteerism but also foster an environment that supports and motivates volunteers and their organizations. The study reveals that effective volunteerism in Mongolia hinges on government support and the implementation of policies that recognize and bolster volunteer contributions. The research concludes with pragmatic, context-specific recommendations. These include policy reforms and initiatives aimed at strengthening the volunteer sector's infrastructure and outreach, particularly among youth. These suggestions are designed to be both theoretically sound and practically applicable, with the potential to significantly impact policy formulation and initiative development in Mongolia. Furthermore, the insights gained from this study have broader implications, offering a template for enhancing volunteerism in other contexts where it is still emerging but holds great potential for driving social change. This thesis thus serves as a vital resource for empowering volunteers and organizations dedicated to social welfare in Mongolia and beyond.
