암묵적 성격 이론이 갈등 관리 전략에 미치는 영향 : 인지 욕구와 종결 욕구의 매개효과를 중심으로

본 연구는 암묵적 성격 이론과 갈등 관리 전략의 관계에서 인지 욕구와 종결 욕구의 매개효과를 검증하였다. 이를 보기 위해 179명의 대학생을 대상으로 주요 변인들을 측정하였으며, 실험적 처치가 포함되었다. 그 결과, 암묵적 성격 이론과 해결형, 회피형, 그리고 통제형 갈등 전략 과의 관계가 유의하지 않았다. 또한 인지 욕구와 종결 욕구의 매개효과는 발견되지 않았다. 그러나, 암묵적 성격 이론이 인지 욕구와 종결 욕구 모두와 거쳐 해결형, 회피형 갈등 전략에 영향을 주는 간접효과가 유의하게 나왔다. 이러한 결과는 성격에 대한 고정된 믿음이 높을수록 종결 욕구가 더 높아졌고, 인지적으로 사고를 하려는 욕구가 높은 사람은 해결형 전략으로, 낮은 사람은 회피형 전략으로 이어질 수 있음을 시사한다. 마지막으로 본 연구의 시사점과 한계점 및 후속 연구에 대한 제언을 제시하였다.

This study verified the mediating effect of Need for Cognition and Need for Closure in the relationship between implicit personality theory and conflict management strategy. To study this, 179 college students were measured for major variables, and experimental treatment was included. As a result, the relationship between implicit personality theory and solution-orientation, non-confrontation, and control strategy was not significant. In addition, no mediating effect of need for cognition and need for closure was found. However, the indirect effect of implicit personality theory influencing both need for cognition and need for closure and the solution-orientation and non-confrontation strategies were significant. These results indicate that the higher the fixed belief in implicit personality theory, the higher the desire for closure. And also those with a high desire to think cognitively can lead to a solution-orientation strategy and those with a low desire can lead to an non-confrontation strategy. Finally, the implications and limitations of this study and suggestions for subsequent studies were presented.
