초록/요약
Chemical doping for conjugated polymers (CPs) is an important tool for enhancing electric and thermoelectric (TE) properties. Despite its poor air stability, FeCl3 has been used as a powerful p-type dopant for CPs with high doping efficiency and demonstrated a high level of TE Performances. In this study, we investigated four salt type of Metal (III) Halides, namely FeCl3, FeBr3, AuCl3, and AuBr3, for doping in poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) and determined characteristics, doping efficiency, and stability over air-exposed time. Especially, AuBr3 showed the highest doping efficiency and air-stability in this study. AuBr3 doped P3HT achieved high electrical conductivity, 827.60 S cm-1, yielded a thermoelectric power factor (PF), PF = α2σ of 87.20 μW M-1 K-2, and retains its PF value as 43.19 % over 336 h, whereas that of FeCl3-doped P3HT remained only under 0.24 % over 96 hr. Further, these doping results show a similar tendency as that of another CPs type, Poly[2,5-bis(3-tetradecylthiophen-2-yl)thieno[3,2-b]thiophene] (PBTTT-C14), implying our results can be applied generally to other kinds of p-type conjugated polymers.
