도식 및 연합 추론이 일화기억의 회상오류에 미치는 영향

초록/요약
본 연구는 일화 기억의 회상에서 도식 구조 및 연합 추론 방식이 오기억 (false memory)을 형성하는 데 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 참가자들은 사람-사물 쌍과, 일상 생활과 관련된 배경으로 구성되어 있는 그림 정보를 기억하는 과제를 실시하였다. 본 연구에서는 도식 구조가 일화 기억의 회상에 미치는 영향력을 알아보기 위해 사람-사물 쌍과 배경의 도식이 일치하는 그림과 일치하지 않는 그림으로 구성하였으며, 연합 추론의 영향력을 알아보기 위해서는 공통된 사물을 연계로 한 사람-사람 관계를 추론 하는 과제를 실시하였다. 이러한 조작 후에 그림의 배경 정보를 떠올리는 과제를 실시한 결과, 그림의 도식 구조가 일치하는 조건에서 연합 추론을 실시하기 전보다 실시한 후에 기억에 대한 자신감은 더 증가하지만 오히려 오기억 비율은 높아지는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 그러나 도식이 불일치 하면서 연합 추론 전의 오기억 비율과 연합 추론 후의 오기억 비율 차이는 없었다. 이러한 결과는 도식 구조가 기억을 회상할 때 도움을 주지만 연합 추론 방식이 오기억을 회상하는 데 영향을 미칠 것이라는 해석이 가능하며, 기억하고 있다는 사실을 아는 것과 실제로 기억한 정보를 회상 하는 것이 서로 다른 인지 체계라는 것을 확인하였다.

This study investigated the effect of schematic structure and associative inference on the formation of false episodic memory. To research this, participants memorized pictures that showed either schema-consistent or schema-inconsistent information composed of a person-object pair on a background related to daily life. In order to examine the influence of associative inference on the retrieval of episodic memory, we conducted a task to infer person-person relationships based on common objects. On the second day of the experiment, we asked participants about the background information of the pictures before and after the associative inference task. As a result, the memory confidence increased after performing the associative inference task than before the inference task for schema-consistent pictures, but false memory rate was higher. However, there was no difference between false memory rate before associative inference and after the inference for schema-inconsistent pictures. This result suggests that a schematic structure helps to retrieve memory, but associative inference affects a retrieval of false memory, and acknowledging to remember information and retrieving memorized information come from different cognitive systems.
