An Enhanced Multi-lateration with Range Expansion and Reduction for Accurate Localization of Indoor Sensor Node

Due to the multi-path fading and shadow fading caused by obstacles, the localization schemes can have a large location error. Especially, the indoor localization is so difficult because channel is unstable and is easy to be fully faded. So the node can have large location errors or even it can not estimate its position because of the fading. In this paper, we modified the path-loss model that is proper to indoor environment and propose an enhanced version of Multi-lateration method to mitigate location error for sensor localization. The proposed method named as an RER (Range Expansion and Reduction) is an ROA(Received signal strength Of Arrival)-based scheme provides lower location error and larger number of sensor nodes estimating their position successfully than them of Multi-lateration, LS (Least Square) [1], and RWGH (Residual WeiGHted least square) [2].
