Synthesis and Structure of New Niobium Thiophosphates

Structure of the new quaternary thiophosphate, Rb5.5Nb12P6S60, has been synthesized with the reactive halide flux and structurally characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction techniques. The compound crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group Pmcb, three formula units in a cell of dimensions a=7.514A, b=13.785A, c= 76.514A, V=7925.4A3. The crystal structure of Rb5.5Nb12P6S60 is composed of the one-dimensional anionic chain, [Nb2PS10]x- and these chains are stabilized through the electrostatic interactions with Rb+ in the van der Waals gap among the chains. The structure of the new pentanary thiophosphate K0.35Cu0.5Nb2PS10 is made up of one-dimensional [Nb2PS10] chains along the [010] direction and these chains are separated from one another by Cu+ and disordered K+ ions. The chin is basically built up from bicapped trigonal prismatic [Nb2P12] unit and tetrahedral [PS4] groups. The [Nb2S12] units are connected together to from a linear [Nb2S9] chain by sharing the S-S prism edge. Nb-Nb distances [2.9026(8) A] along the chain and the anionic species S22- and S2- are observed. 새로운 1차원 4성분계 thiophosphate, Rb5.5Nb12P6S60는 alkali metal halide 와 구성성분의 반응을 통해 합성하였고, 단 결정 X-선 회절 법에 의해 결정구조를 해석하였다. 화합물 Rb5.5Nb12P6S60은 a=7.514A, b=13.785A, c= 76.514A, V=7925.4A3 인 단위세포를 가지며, 사방정계(斜方晶系) 의 공간 군인 Pmcb로 결정화 한다. 화합물 Rb5.5Nb12P6S60은 1차원의 음이온 사슬인 [Nb2PS10]x로 구성되고, 이 사슬은 van der Waals gap 사이에서 Rb+와 정전기적인력으로 안정화된어진다. 새로운 1차원 5성분계 thiophosphate K0.35Cu0.5Nb2PS10는 1차원 [Nb2PS10]사슬이 Cu+와 연결되어 [010]방향을 따라 구성되고 K+이온은 disorder되어 있다. 그 사슬은 기본적으로 bicapped trigonal prismatic [Nb2P12]과 tetrahedral [PS4]로 구성된다.
