Group Rekeying in Location-aware Sensor Networks

초록/요약

Secure group communication is one of the most significant requirements for different applications of a sensor network which employs a group rekeying mechanism for the secure and efficient delivery of its group data. A number of different schemes have been suggested to securely and efficiently resolve the group rekeying problem for computation, memory and energy constraint sensor network nodes. Still many researchers are working on this to improve the rekeying performance and to further reduce the overheads of existing techniques. We present a group rekeying scheme for Broadcast security of a location aware Wireless Sensor Network. We exploit the polynomial share based peer to peer key establishment [3, 4, 5] mechanism for implementing secure channels between group nodes and then, we introduce a novel idea to deliver the group key to each sensor node. A base station works as the key server and group manager which keeps account of all the sensor nodes deployed in the network with their individual deployment information along with their continually changing node status. We analyze the scheme both in terms of security and performance, to justify the applicability of our work.
