16x16 인트라 예측모드 생략을 통한 H.264/AVC의 부호화 시간 단축

Time Reduction of Encoding in H.264/AVC by Skipping Intra 16x16 Prediction Mode.

초록/요약

H.264/AVC causes improvement of efficiency over 50% versus MPEG-4 on the new coding ways and tools; however, in these respects, complex degree of coding process is very increased. In H.264/AVC, at the time of intra prediction, 4x4 luma Block has nine, both 16x16 luma Block and 8x8 chroma block have four modes according to directional correlation with perimetrical blocks. The most optimal mode of these is chosen by RDO(Rate-Distortion Optimization). In this process, complex degree of encoder has largely increased. In this study, I suggest algorithm that simplify the whole coding process and shorten the whole performance time by skipping 16x16 intra prediction. I prove algorithm that I suggest through a pre-test. I find out weakness that some bitrate increased. However, the whole performance time decreased approximately 5% versus JM11.0, and the failing-off in video quality is insignificant enough to ignore.
