VIABILITY OF BIOMASS AND ESTIMATION OF THEORETICAL AND TECHNICAL ENERGY POTENTIALS OF RICE HUSKS AS POSSIBLE FEEDSTOCK FOR ELECTRICITY GENERATION IN EKWASHI MGBO, OHAUKWU LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA - A RURAL COMMUNITY IN EBONYI STATE, NIGERIA

초록/요약

Inadequate power production and supply in Nigeria have throughout time restricted economic growth and reduced industrial, commercial, and personal productivity. Of what use is infrastructure when there is no steady electricity to operate it? God himself had a reason to have created light first. Electricity generated from biomass fuels, which are made up of both plant and animal products, is known as biomass power. The list of fuels also includes wastes and gaseous fuels created from solid biomass and food wastes, trees and grasses planted specifically as energy crops, and residues from the manufacturing and processing of food. Unfortunately, this has been a forgotten alternative in Nigeria. This project focuses on the availability of diverse biomass resources in Nigeria and considers its viability for sustainable supply of electricity vis-a-vis the available know-hows usable in transforming the resources into electric power. This document equally underlines government's overarching strategies for the advancement of biomass production in particular and the advancement of renewable energy in general. Also contained are various methods for producing energy from biomass and their opportunities and difficulties based on worldwide practices. However, this work reveals that despite the high likelihood of using these plants and animal wastes for electricity production, there are still a number of factors that must be considered before using biomass for electricity generation in Nigeria. These factors include land availability, plant location, scale, technology choice, and distribution of economic benefits.
