THE PAST, PRESENT, AND FUTURE OF ENHANCED OIL RECOVERY (EOR) IN INDONESIA

초록/요약

Oil is a very important commodity in Indonesia, so it should have a significant contribution to public welfare. Unfortunately, the profile of oil reserves and production of the earth is decreasing over time. According to Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas in Indonesia, crude oil production will continue to decline at an average rate of 3-5 percent per year, so that the need for oil continues increasing will also cause imports to increased. There are several strategies to increase oil recovery: for short periods of time by doing workovers and well services, for the medium term, with an Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) method is developed or in other words tertiary recovery (after primary recovery and secondary recovery), while for the long term, through exploration. In the future, Indonesia will encounter a new challenge in the field of energy. One of the most successful EOR in Indonesia is the steam injection applied by the Duri field, Sumatra. Steam injection is the largest use in the world. The government is even now intensifying the use of EOR in the production field. This study presents the history of the application of enhanced oil recovery (EOR) methods in Indonesia, its current status, present, and future.
