Techno - Economic Analysis of Small Scale Biomass Gasification for Electricity Production in Rural Area of Indonesia

초록/요약

Indonesia's primary energy mix forecast in 2050 shows that coal has the biggest share of 36% followed by gas 18%, renewable energy 15% and oil 31%. Indonesia needs to escalate the use of renewable energy resources for domestic purposes to reduce dependence on fossil fuels. Especially Indonesia rural areas that are highly dependent on diesel oil because of uses diesel power plants as power generation. Professionals and researchers from various publicity papers say that dependence on fossil fuels in remote areas can be overcome by utilizing the potential of energy sources in the surrounding area. The energy source that can be developed in the area of the research object, namely Heniar / Wallir Island, Tual City, Maluku is biomass. This study aims to calculate the feasibility in terms of technology and economics to optimize the utilization of biomass in this area. Gasification technology was chosen as a solution and capable technology to produce environmentally friendly energy and has proven. Calliandra C and Coconut shell used as a feedstock because of the availability and possibility of planting in terms of geographical and demographic. Gasification process simulation is performed using ASPEN software that aims to produce optimal parameters in general. The simulation results indicate that based on sensitivity analysis, the biomass gasification with Calliandra C. feedstock produces an efficiency of 92% while the optimal point for the coconut shell feedstock is produced 90% efficiency. Economic analysis is carried out by calculating the value of NPV, IRR, PBP and LCOE as an acceptability condition in the project and comparing it with existing power plants. The economic analysis results show that the implementation of biomass gasification power generation using Calliandra C and coconut shell feedstocks in Heniar/Wallir island is economically acceptable with the limitations in the feedstock price and the specified rate.
