본 연구의 목적은 남녀 중,노년층 성인의 스트레스가 문제음주와 관련성이 있는지를 분석하는 것이다. 2012년 1월부터 12월까지 12개월간 시행된 국민 건강 영양 조사에 참여한 40세 이상 성인 남자 1,667명과 여자 2,323명을 대상으로 네 가지(우울증 현재 유병 여부, 스트레스, 평생 흡연 여부) 변수와 문제 음주 간 관련성을 계산하였다. 이 분석엔 인구통계학적 변수가 포함됐다. 자료의 분석은 SPSS 22.0를 사용하였으며, 빈도 분석, 카이 검정, 로지스틱 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 남녀 성인에서 중년층 남성의 경우 스트레스를 "대단히 많이 느낀다"(오즈비 2.50, 95% 신뢰구간 1.04-6.04)라고 응답한 경우와 흡연(오즈비 1.77, 95% 신뢰구간 1.26-2.49)이 문제 음주에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 노년층 남성의 경우 스트레스를 "많이 느낀다"(오즈비 2.18, 95% 신뢰구간 1.17-4.08)라고 응답한 경우에 문제 음주에 영향을 미쳤다. 중년층 여성은 초등학교 아하 졸업자(오즈비 1.67, 95% 신뢰구간 1.14-2.45)의 경우 문제 음주를 많이 했으며, 노년 여성 흡연자(오즈비 0.48, 95% 신뢰구간 0.26-0.90)의 경우 문제 음주를 적게 하였다. 남성 대상자를 대상으로 구체적인 스트레스 요인 음주와 가족 갈등에 대한 연구와 스트레스를 해소하는 방안에 대한 프로그램 개발이 필요할 것으로 사료된다.

The purpose of this study is to examined the association of stress with problem drinking in middle-aged and older adults. Data from the 2012 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey(KNHANES), conducted by the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, were used. Adults aged 40 years and older(1667 men, 2323 women) were included for this study. Logistic regresion analysis was conducted to derive the odds ratio(OR) and confidence intervals(CL) of problem drinking by stress levels, adjusting for covariates. Middle-aged men who reported high levels of stress(Odds ratio 2.50, 95% CL: 1.04-6.04) and older men having moderate levels of stress(Odds ratio 2.18, 95% CL: 1.17-4.08) demonstrated increased odds of problem drinking. This study indicates the important role of stress in men who are problem drinkers. Health programs to relieve sress may help to manage problem drinking behaviors in men.
