Implementation Method of ISO 50001 Energy Management System

초록/요약

The purpose of this thesis is to present a method to efficiently implement ISO 50001 Energy Management System (EnMS). The interest in environment & energy has increased drastically throughout the world due to global warming and energy resource depletion. Accordingly, companies are also participating in the world trend by establishing ISO 50001 EnMS and the current trend is that there is an increasing interest in ensuring internal stability by preventing unnecessary energy loss. Although various theses have been presented on establishing ISO 50001 EnMS, they only dealt with contents on establishment and the present condition is that there is no paper on effectively implementing ISO 50001 EnMS. This thesis presents a plan to efficiently implement and apply ISO 50001 EnMS. First, it presents Integrated Management System (IMS) of existing management systems and ISO 50001 EnMS. Upon identifying the common requirement of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & OHSAS 18001 Management Systems and ISO 50001 Management System, as well as their respectively unique requirement, it presents a documentation development plan of ISO 50001 EnMS in addition to existing management systems. Second, it develops Energy-FMEA (En-FMEA) method for Energy Review that is the very core element of ISO 50001 EnMS. By providing standardized frame for Energy Review, this method allows any company to objectively identify its priority to improve energy. In addition, it verifies the validity of the developed En-FMEA through case study. Third, it presents a guideline for improving energy through the type classification of energy reduction cases. Upon analyzing both foreign and domestic energy improvement cases, they were classified into seven types, namely, Combination, Change, Coordination, Supplement, Segmentation, Subduction and Sprit that will be referred to as 3C4S. It is thought that ideas on energy improvement activities can be easily deduced through the 3C4S classification. In the case of our country, the importance of manufacturing industry in the production of added value of national economy and energy consumption is the highest. As a country that needs energy without much energy resource, activities to improve energy are desperately needed than any other country. Accordingly, enhancing the awareness to conserve energy would be most important. This thesis is expected to provide assistance not only for efficiently establishing ISO 50001 EnMS but also for actual energy improvement activities.
