THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE UNITED NATIONS IN SECCESSIONIST PROBLEM:CASE STUDY ANGLOPHONE CAMEROON

초록/요약

Minority issues have been the cause of war and have also retards economic development in around the globe in general and Cameroon in particular. This research topic focus on the :Responsibility of the United Nations in Seccessionist problem: Case Study Anglophone Cameroon. British Southern Cameroon for decades are been marginalized by the dominant Francophone population which has culminated to the feeling of been assimilated. Worthmentioning is of the fact that, British Southern Cameroon is endowed with natural resources but, irrespective of this natural resources, the Cameroon government have neglected development in this part of the Country. Again, British Southern Cameroon are technically not represented in decission making in the Country, they are relegated to the back. Self Conciousness and the search for identity have culminated to the formation of Anglophone Movements such as: Southern Cameroon Restoration Movement (SCARM), Anglophone Movement (AM), Southern Cameroon National Council (SCNC), Southern Cameroon Youth League (SCYL). The formation of these groups is to fight against marginalization and to come into a concession with the Cameroon Government, if this fails then seccesssion will be resorted to as the best option. In this research, the United Nation is blame for being the cause of Anglophone marginalization problem and thus the United Nations is call to visit the isssue for a lasting solution.
