ETHICAL BUSINESS PRACTICES AND DEVELOPMENT : Case Study of the Haitian Apparel Industry

초록/요약

This thesis will explore the application of business ethics to the Haitian apparel sector. It will explain how, if governments in developing countries enforce ethic-motivated regulations in the private sector, they will eventually encourage business activity and eventually improve the welfare of their populations as well as their economic performances. In order to do so, I will look at the issue, first from theoretical perspective, as a mean of understand its mechanisms. I will then tackle the question in a more practical way with the situation of the Haitian apparel sector. I will conclude that, if Haiti adopts ethical business practices in the apparel sector, it should be a way to rebrand itself and to increase productivity, improve the quality of life and promote women empowerment.
